Goner Message Board / Food & Drink / red pepper jelly.

i bought a jar of this, and i really honestly have no idea what on earth it's used for. i just thought it was interesting and i wanted to try it out. what do you use this stuff on or put it in? it's apparently pretty spicy since it says "hot hot" before the "red pepper jelly" on the label. i've been too chicken shit to just spoon it in my mouth, as i would rather try it on something else.

what do ya suggest?

Try it on ham or even baked /grilled chicken

i make an appetizer thingie as such:

1 brick of cream cheese on platter
pour hot red pepper jelly over it

serve with crackers

you can also make a red hot grilled cheese sammich -
on your bread: spread the jelly, cover w/ slice of cheese (cheddar is best - or jack) spread again w/ jelly

spread mayo on outside of bread, grill.
optional: put a layer of cucumber between cheese and jelly

Spread baked brie on cracker.

brie also bakes up well en croute
you can get frozen puff pastry dough or filo dough
wrap up a whole round of brie in the dough of your choice
bake it

variation:
cut the top rind off the brie
spread mixture of the red pepper jelly and some nuts of your choice
then wrap it all up in either puff pastry or filo
bake til dough is golden

actually - brie and red pepper jelly inspire many concoctions! have fun

elle, I make a kickass cheese spread, with shredded white cheddar, little bit o' mayo, chopped red onion, red pepper jelly drizzled on top... I'll see if I can find the actual recipe for you... it's awesome, gone in two seconds when I make it.

pepper jelly is GOOD. i likey.

Now grill some cornbread in butter and spread it on that!!

Love it too. Tried to make a batch last year...the green, jalepeno...but it came out runny and syrupy because I didn't want to use a lot of pectin...and I tried to simmer it down, but it just got stickier...I should have just kept going and made lollipops! I'm inspired to try again now...
