Lots of things wouldn't have happened without him.

Best Dude.

Skip spent this past week in the hospital fighting heart problems. We lost him on Sunday around 2pm.
Bitch of it is, he only went in because of a broken ankle.

Skip really liked Goner...even if he didn't always understand what we heard in the music. But he loved seeing such a grassroots Memphis music thing continue to grow the way it has. And he helped RSA in countless ways to make sure we could do the things we've done for Goner over the years.
In his early days he traveled as the one-man-band backing music for a burlesque show. He recorded the first ever Police show in the US. In the 80s he helped Willie Nelson build his studio. After some time in Nashville he made his way to Memphis where he ran 3 Alarm studio with Chips Moman, and later 315 Beale until the space was bought out by Hard Rock.
For the last few years he had talked about setting up a show in conjunction with Gonerfest...he wanted to present us with his buddy Mojo Nixon live at Payne's BBQ...which only Skip could've pulled off, and it would've ruled.
In lieu of that, here's Skip (drums), Mojo (gtr/voc) and Jim Dickinson (keys) redefining the Kenny Rogers' classic "Just Dropped In..."

Story has it that John Doe was supposed to play bass on it but Mojo didn't want to wait for him to get out of the shitter.

Love ya, old man.
And, thanks...
